Project Introduction
This page is going to be about the life cycle of a paperclip and will give you the five basic steps on how a paperclip is made, used, recycled/thrown away, and will have questions.
Timeline
a.
1 - first the mineral iron is mined to be used to make the steel for the paperclip.
2 - paper clip and steel wire companies that make springs clips and other things of that nature are responsibly for making the paperclips.
3 - galvanized steel is sent to paperclip machines that take the steel wire and bends it so that each paperclip has three bends by cutting it and passing it through three small wheels.
4 - Paper clips are used mainly to hold papers together. Hints the name paper clip. You can use them for other purposes as listed below but the main purpose is to keep you papers together and organized without the holes that staples may leave behind.
5 - When the paperclip is no longer in use for one paper you can save it in a jar or somewhere, so when you gather up more papers that might need to be held together you can use that same paperclip as before. You can also use the paperclip for some other things such as:
-Hold Together a Loose Hem
-Create an iPhone Stand
-Make DIY Jewelry
-Pit a Cherry
-Easily Find The End of Tape
-Keep Wrapping Paper From Unraveling
-Wrangle Loose Extension Chords
-Make A Key Ring
-Close Opened Food Packages
-Dye Easter Eggs
ETC...

Conclusion quetions
a. Product life cycle means what it takes to find the materials it takes to make a product, then the process it goes through to be made, then after its made how it is used. Then after it is used how can it be recycled or reused.
b. It is important for companies to do this because they most likely don't want a product that will be made and when it is thrown away that cant be reused or recycled. They wont something that could be used for multiple purposes after it fist or second to few uses.
c. I wouldn't change anything about my product because it is sturdy and it can be used for multiple purposes after it may have worn out its first purpose as a paper holder.
d. the paperclip comes in many different styles shapes and even textures so as for as evolving goes it think it was continue to change in design. As far as becoming obsolete I believe that the product will stay in style just because of the simple fact that it has multiple uses more than just a simple steel wire that has been bent to hold papers together.
e. a comprise that has been achieved between two or more pieces of something.
f. I don't think that trade off were made during the creation/ design of my product.
g. It is important to recycle because if we dint recycle, we would be living on the trash that we have used up and just thrown away instead of going through what we could and using what was renewable. If we never recycled a day in our lives would wouldn't honestly have most of the stuff that we have today and the things that we needed we would have to work extra hard to obtain which would all end up being bad for our ecosystem.
h. product designers play a huge role in the recycling of their materials that they used because they know that if they can reuse the materials that have already made something out of again. After they have already made it, they know they can get their moneys worth out of the material that they have bought without spending to much money to get back the same amount of material that they started out with. instead of just reusing some of what they already had.
i. Society has the biggest role of all which is to recycle the product that they are no longer using. You are saving your health your money and your future. When you recycle you are going to be leaving less pollutants behind from where big companies have to go mining for minerals to build and produce something that you want when they could have just reused what you have already had. You are saving your money because the money you make sometimes goes into the resources that the companies need to get the minerals to make the products that you wont so you would be paying for the product to be mined, manufactured shipped, and sold. instead of recycling so you wouldn't have to pay for the mining and other things like that.
j. I can make sure that i use the material to its full potential before is discard of it. Whether that is throwing it out because the product just cannot be used any more or I'm recycling because it can made into something bigger and better without having to go and look for more materials.
